P2: 1611 - 2011: KING JAMES VERSION OF BIBLE 400th ANNV - NOT MANY EVENTS ORGANISED IN WALES BY ANY CHRISTIAN DENOMNIATIONS - BUT WHAT DOES IT

...mean for Wales? Not much going on in Wales other than in Aberdovey and just across the border in Oswestry, other than that your present English Prince of Wales appears to be all over the anniversary. That might interest you but if not note, I have done a google search of 17th Century Wales. This much I do now as to why this century is important to Wales and Welsh People, it is by virtue of fact that they start to rise up out of a desert of poverty by virtue of trade with England to the East. If you want to know what the Tudors did for Wales, then it was stamping out restrictions to a 'National Trade' by the remnants of Marcher Lord rights to tollgate trade from one Lord Ship to the next. In France the Nobility held on to these privellages well into the 18th Century, much causing their downfall due to tax burden on Sea Salt requited for baking bread. So 'Bara Neu Waed'.

Not least and not much mentioned trade to the West in an atlantic trade along Western Sea Board of Europe, to the Carribean and not least to North America Colonies. Here begins not just story of the beginnings of popular struggle but of a 'Welsh Entrepreneural Spirit'.
Someone once told me that the Welsh winge too much, either about Cultural oppression or Social Oppression or then in my case about 'Medieval Oppression', argueing that not enough was said about those who pulled up their wool knitted socks and tramped off to London or sailed for America or just became a Pirate as Henry Morgan. I guess a museum to a Welsh 'Entrepreneurnal Spirit' would do no harm, did I say that? Something Dylan Jones - Evans should possibly argue case of:

Wales of the 17th century is also a land of small as well as large farmers, not just the 'anglicised' Gentry. Not least the common people could start moving upward from simple beginnings as women gathering wool off the gorse to knit wigs for sale in border market towns. The girls who tramped to London to become Milk Maids in London, weeders in such as Covent Garden or also 'Ladies of Ill repute' as possibly Nell Gwynne thought to be of Hereford Welsh descent. Then the gangs of Welsh beggers and sons of the gentry practising law by day and being rakes at night. Certainly it is an 100 years Patriots just ignore to political, not just historical knowledge disadvantage as we jump from 1416 to 1831. Why? So what is this 400th Anniversary all about and what does it mean to Wales.
