MEDIEVAL ENGLAND's GREATEST HEROES THE BLACK PRINCE AND HENRY V - Know Thy Enemy, might as well as come 2015 Wales will get Henry V, Azincourt and Shakespeare stuffed down their throats.

So what was going on post 1282 - 1400 - 1415 - 1482, got any idea at all as far as English/French History and Wales is concerned, no? Better go and check out, starting with the 14rh century post 1284 Anti - Colonial Rebellion  to the revolts of 1315 and 1345 as a comparative study study of social popular revolts in Europe. This is a century of Climate Change, it gets wet with constant rain which causes crops to fail and this brings famine and discontent followed by plague, In Wales Mercenaries flood into the English Armies to go and fight in France whilst some join Owain Lawgoch to fight with the French against the English. All this is prologue to the Owain Glyndwr Rebellion, of which you of course know a great deal. yes? But what about 1415 and after, not so much I guess but you should as it will take you iunto the years in which Owain Glyndwr is kicked into the shadows to be loyal to an English Pretender Prince of Wales Henry V and then the 'Richmonds' beloved by Tudor Taffs.

Henry V born in Mon mouth on 16 September (ironic) and which Monmouth adores as it's own and no doubt will go a bundle on celebrating the Anglo - Welsh Victory over the French at Azincourt 1415 - 2015, expect wall to wall Shakespeare in 2015 with all that Taffy Leek eating and forget not that celebrating Dydd Dewi as a National Festival is thanks to Henry V who made it such as a thank you to the Taffy bowmen who won him a great victory at Azincourt and as similar Taffies were to go on  to support the Tudor false prophet - pretender Mab Darogan. So what other to do other than some serious Welsh Medieval History Education, get ready for some serious all Wales Anti - Azincourt/Shakespeare Cymric Consciousness Campaign. Not on bloody fb but out and about in the real world ok, up for it? Then what about a massive pro - Glyndwr commemoration in Monmouth in September 1415, I shall work on it and in the mean time no messing this idea with fb 'Groups' and other 'Name farming' and 'Profiling of Patriots' on fb. Anyone with such ideas bog off! In time,  will inform of possibilities in this connection and call a meeting of those who want to be seriously involved in organisation of. Further, bit of a biggie next, I am thing of raising a 'Byddin Henri Gwyn' Arwr Glyndwr  who with other Gwerin Owain left Wales to fight with the French and some were to die at Azincourt but better death than dishonor fighting for the English. If your up for this and attending the Azincourt 1415 Commemoration on the French side then start getting into medieval reenactment and thinking of getting some suitable kit together for the expedition to France in 2015. REMEMBERING 1282, TRYWERYN and ABERFAN AND THE COLLECTIVE MEMORY and WALES/WELSH PEOPLE - WHOSE MEMORY?

    1. This post was prompted by an Item on BBC WORLD SERVICE about Cultural Memory, I am posting up with comments here very much prompted by thoughts reflecting on recent Tryweryn Commemorations in relation in particular to the media's reflection on such.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YrgWfDzxdk

In the first instance it is worthwhile noting that the 'Cymraeg' media certainly went to town even though the anniversary being commemorated was a bomb attack announcing the existence of Mudiad Amdiffyn Cymru. As to why when the Crachach Establishment that runs this media are for most part pacifist cultural nationalists did so. This a matter that is open for consideration noting that at the same time their coverage of the Trefechan Bridge incident of the same year 1963 was as also given great, if not greater attention. Take both into consideration of a 'Cultural Memory Package' one wonders just how much all this is a true National Cultural Memory or just the memory of one particular 'Cultural Memory' grouping and then how far does this reach into that community in terms of class interest and concerns. Regards the above it may all be considered that the Wales English Language Media was not interested so much in remembering, reflecting or advancing such a 'Cultural Memory'. Though worth reflecting on that whilst Western Mail did a load on Trefechan Bridge did nothing on Tryweryn so not reflecting or encouraging of any 'National Cultural Memory'. So, much to discuss all of course old Cofiwn territory regards combating historical amnesia and campaigning against cerebral colonialism. Go to it then read, think and discuss! Gethin.
