Q1: Why after a 1000 years or so of a Catholic Cymru when the Tudors brought in the Protestant Reformation, why no Welsh Catholic Revolt? There was a Cornish Catholic Revolt finally crushed on Black Heath by Welsh Soldiers loyal to the Tudors and there were a few Catholic Revolts on England as the Pilgrimage of Grace. Zip in Wales other than an handful of Catholic Martyrs?
Q2: In the final conquest of Gwynedd in 1282 after some five centuries plus of a native aristocracy from Cunedda to Llywelyn III why did the downfall prove so popular with Gwynedd Lords and Chiefs also the Bangor Priesthood who collaborated with Edward in capture and execution of Dafydd III, handd over to Edward I the Royal Treasures of Gwynedd inc Y Croes Naid. Then actively assist in establishing a 'Vichy Style' Colonial Collaborationist feudal Colony, so much for a Romantic Nationalist Last Stand?
Q3: In 1536 Act of Union, the preamble really bashes into the native language and customs yet in 1523 Henry VII calls for an Eisteddfod at Caerwys under sway of his Cymric Collaborators; Richard ap Hywel, Sir William Griffith, Grffith ap Ifan, Sir Roger Salisbri and Tudor Aled also other Gentlemen and Scholars. The purpose being to bring order and government and regulating of the Bardic Profession, it appears that at this time he must have been sympathetic to the native tongue? However, by 1568 Elizabeth I was calling another Eisteddfod at Caerwys to the same but additional end purpose of curbing and getting rid of the not so worthy as the popular Glerwyr balladeers who were to be forced into 'honest labour or be apprehended and punished as Vagabonds. So what is going on here, keeping in mind the Tudors give us a Bible 'Yn Cymraeg' too, I think it must have something to do with the establishment of a Tudor Mouth Piece in Cymru/Wales in fact we might say that in the above we have the foundations of a collaborationist cultural crachach in which our present day 'Crachach Newydd' would find their roots, they serving the same purpose today as 'Cultural Collaborationists' upon which Plaid Cymru's Cultural Nationalism is based today but with a Green tinge as well as a Pacifist streak.
Q4: How come the Welsh have so quickly abandoned the Christian Religion, not least Non Conformity since conclusion of WWII. post 'Sixties' it has been an all but total collapse and giving way to the religion of Consumerism and getting pissed as cheaply and as often as possible and we have yet to see what Crack can really turn Cymru into? Maybe we need another Religious Revival not a Patriotic Resurgence.
