What's worth commemorating this year 2010, for starters how about the 100th anniversary of the Tonypandy Riots 1910, see web for commemorative programme well under advanced organisation.
.
There are however, a good number of local and thematic History societies worth joining as below list shows. I will provide a more detailed post on such in due course.

Wales is yet to have established a good Historical Association as the below but you can always join this British History Association and form a local branch, there are already two in Wales. Most importantly asap, is to visit the HA website and send for below brochure, it's full of useful information.

Most important for your attention is a series of reports I have done on the WAG New Welsh Heritage Strategy and Cadw's Five Year E.U. Heritage Tourism Initiatives plus progress on the Welsh Contribution to the Cultural Olympiad. I have wrote these reports but now have to edit up suitable for blog posts, this will take at least a month (Jan). But important, very important that you start reading up on all this yourselves and become most familiar with what is under way. My reports have taken me over six months to research and are very detailed with a number of recommendations, proposed projects and some major Welsh History Initiatives. Not least the most urgent requirement, great need to see established a WELSH HERITAGE TRUST - Treftadaeth Cymru. To fill gap left by the Historic Environment Group going into demise, to be possibly replaced by a Civic Trust proposal for a mere Historic Environment Link, this I see as greatly unsatisfactory and aforementioned reports will clearly say why. I shall note be requesting your support in this and other endeavours and, will be organising an informal meeting to discuss such with all those interested in due course, before the month is out I hope, if interested in attending such meeting do let me know asap via an address I shall place in this blog soon.
