I say only just! as I detected in Selwyn's arguements the usual 'Suspect Sanctimonius Selective' view of Welsh history, not least on this issue! Myself, I can think of a load more Welsh people I wish did not have statues set up in their doubtfull honour, not least Lloyd George who has two statues (Caernarfon and Cardiff being so blessed?) in Wales and one in London.

Thank you Lloyd George, the irony is that where now stands the Lloyd George Statue in Caernarfon, it had been planned to put up a statue of Owain Glyndwr. Who knows, if Catalans can get rid of Bull Fights just maybe the Welsh can get rid of the two statues of this great 'Cymric Bradwr'. Maybe Selwyn Williams or perhaps Dafydd Iwan, even better could start such a 'Patriotic Campaign' seeing he so much misses 'The Last Native Prince of Wales'. C'mon Cymry start a media letter campaign 'Get Rid Of Lloyd George Statues', they are getting rid of Franco's Statues in Spain and of Course the Baltic Nations have got rid of Stalin and Lennin. So getting rid of Lloyd George is not such an 'extreme' Patriotic Act and what better way to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1911 'Lloyd George' Investiture?
.
As for a 'Stanley Statue' or any other Imperialist be they British or American, there are aplenty statues of 'Victorian Anglo - Welsh Capitalist Imperialists', there are statues of in Wales. Many of whom have 'Blood on their Hands' regards both 'Colonising Adventures' in Africa as well as 'Capitalist Exploitation' in Wales. However, as for H.M.S. I find a statue of the ''Welsh Bastard'', kind of appeals to me in so far such a statue being a 'Swipe at Saxon Arrogance' in looking down at Stanley the 'Welsh American'.
.
On any account of Welsh Connections with Slavery should we not consider the role of Welsh Pirates, not least Barti Ddu. What if a Statue proposed for he, would that as much be condemned and attacked so ferociously as Stanley is now? I do not think so! as already he is subject of Childrens tales, of course with a touch of 'Selective Cymric Amnesia', involved!

However, there is this very serious 'Dark Cloud' hanging over the ''Welsh Bastard'' and so myself would go not so much for a the suggestion of a 'Museum of Reconciliation', much better a 'Museum of Slavery' and I mean all forms of 'Slavery', old and new and across all borders. A museum which is not 'Selective' to salve some 'Welsh Pacifist Religious Cultural Nationalist ' self induced 'Guilt Factor'. Such 'Museum of Slavery
- needs to include an 'Inclusive' history of all forms of Slavery inc Islams Muslim Slavers in Africa and off the Coasts of Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall and England. If does tell all the truth of the intrusion upon and into Africa by the 'Nothern Hemisphere' but leaves out the 'Intrusion' of an equally brutal intrusion by the Islamic Arab World. A Slavery carried out as great and over a longer period than 'White Slave Traders' then what and whose truth is told? Whatever, to help you make up your own mind, see links on the issue of Slavery below:
..
I am not impressed with calls for a 'Museum of Reconciliation', what the hell does that really mean or have to say as a 'Statement of Altruism' when we all today share in the 'Great Guilt' of continued Slavery in the Congo, yes! Slavery still, see link below:
