1911: WELSH RACISM NO NEW THING. 2011 - 100th ANNIVERSARY OF WELSH RACE RIOTS AGAINST THE JEWS AND CHINESE.


Before I bring home Welsh Racist Guilt do keep firmly in mind that the English practised their own forms of racism against the Welsh from middle ages up to the 19th century. The racism against the Welsh in England was never on the scale of the racism unleashed upon the Irish and other migrant communities but nevertheless the Welsh in England did feel some hot breath of racist attitudes and of course such as the Blue Books of 1848 added to earlier diatribes. In the middle ages as good motivation for fighting the Welsh, they were labelled 'Trojan Debris' ( I will leave you to work that one out), then of course there is the Socio - Economic Racism of the 'Welshrhy' and 'Englishry', then the Penal Legislation enforced against the Welsh in Glyndwr's times. Later in Tudor Times the Welsh became 'Taffy the Leg of Beef Stealer', that was justifiable and referred to cross border cattle rustling. I believe that during the English Civil War the Welsh became again the subject of racial abuse with the libel 'Beware of Wales dear child' joined nursry rhymes to scare naughty English Children.
